The cliff

So now the entire family has seen Arnie's favorite hunting ground, and more specifically, the view from the cliff. He has taken many friends hunting there, and the guided hunt always includes a strenuous hike to the top of this ridge. More than once the hike to the top has resulted in a dead turkey. Once, he shot a big gobbler at 11:57am when the rule used to be that turkey hunting had to stop at noon. Kevin Karcher, who was with him on that trip, verified on his watch that it was indeed before noon when the turkey was shot.
Another dead turkey happened at the top of the cliff when Arnie took Phil Wistrom up there. There were many toms roosted and gobbling around the rim of the cliff and Phil had to choose which one was going to get there first.
There was also the time before Betsy was born that the family of three camped in the barnyard that can be seen in the distance. It was very windy and Arnie and Terry Rice were on top of the cliff, looking at just what you see in the picture above. The wind grabbed the large awning of the tent and was trying to sail the entire tent away and all the guys could do was watch the women (Abbey was three) try to save the large wall tent. It was no use trying to get there to help, because the barn is a good 30 minute hike from the top of the cliff.
It is a great destination.
