Neighbor Bill tends the fire in the big Beech stump
It has been so cold the last several days that we've not done much to be worth putting on the blog. There has been a lot of football, but Arnie has also gotten out quite a bit over the last five days to cut firewood and clean up the woods between us and Chapmans'.
The sounds of chainsaws rang through the neighborhood all week, especially on Saturday. Kevin Schafer, his dad, Neighbor Bill, and Arnie cut down the dead trees that leaned over the road (safety issue), tore out the old fence along the road, and cut up/burned the underbrush and downed trees that made the woods along the road look very trashy. With just a little more work, that little triangle woods will look dandy. It will be done in time for boiling down the maple syrup for sure. That will be a great place for the neighbors to gather for tending the wood fire then.
