Temperatures are supposed to be near zero the next couple of nights and the wind chill is to be -10 or so. Kelley went about the garden and took a couple of pictures of the garden in the snow. The welcome birds above came from Arnie's Grandma (Ruth) Miley's garden. We have several pieces of her garden items that some would think are gaudy by themselves, but we've made them look good by placing them in the edges of soft bushes and flower beds. It is a good way to remember grandma, who passed away on Christmas, 2007.
The beech tree below is at the end of our driveway. It used to be half hidden by the brush and junk around it, but we cleaned the area up this summer. You can't tell it in this picture, but there are several hostas, irises, and other plants in and about the beech tree's exposed roots, awaiting the warmth of spring to pop up. The tree is probably over 300 years old.
