We have an annual ritual at our house. The temperature gets down to about 35 degrees for the first time and Skeet puts on an act to be let into the house. She is a 100% outside dog the rest of the year, but when the temperature gets cold, she knows that if she stands just outside the big window and visibly shakes, we'll let her in. Once she is in for the first time in the late fall, she becomes a 40% outside dog. She spends the night inside and part of the day outside if it is warmer than 30 degrees.
With fuel prices as high as they have been the past couple of years, and with the thermostat set lower than normal because of it, Skeet is a welcome addition to the foot of Betsy's bed. She is a pretty good leg-warmer if you can put up with her snoring.
