Spelunking

We took a little overnight family trip to New Albany & Clarksville over the weekend to burn up a free hotel night that was about to expire. To do something out of the ordinary and to get rid of some early winter cabin fever, we decided to take a winter hike to Arnie's hunting woods. Kelley has heard about the cliff and the caves for more than 25 years, but had never seen them until yesterday.
Part of the hike included a brief exploration of the two big caves, which are located exactly one mile from the nearest road. Betsy was not keen on the idea once there, but she finally went down into the open part of one of the caves for the picture above. Arnie and Abbey went deeper into the cave, but without flashlights they could not go past where the daylight could reach. Abbey liked the caves enough that she wants to go back next fall and camp there for the annual fall turkey/deer/squirrel/marten hunting trip.
