Garden notes 2009

Garden notes for 2009:

• Start fall garden sooner, plant more.
• Don't forget to water in August.
• Pay closer attention to bugs on corn, spray as needed.
• Get different type of pole beans (too stringy this year).
• Order mostly heirloom varieties for seed-saving.
• Tie over cauliflower to keep whiter.
• Get a bigger canner.
• Plant more: okra, tomatoes, swiss chard, beets, kale, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, carrots, cucumbers, winter squash, peas, kolhrabi, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce.
• Plant the same amount: hungarian wax peppers, cayenne, green peppers.
