In her day...

In her younger days, Casey wouldn't have allowed those deer to eat there (see them in the background)

We watched a herd of deer feeding on the knob below the house yesterday morning. There were seven altogether (don't know where the other three were hiding) and poor Casey just stayed on the porch, wishing she had the energy to chase them like in her younger days. Until the last year or two, Skeet and Casey allowed no deer to be on the property - at least if they were in sight. Now, both of them just watch and perhaps whine a little because they want to, but don't have the energy.
These deer meandered over to the persimmon patch, so dad went out and scared them off. We've had a lot of trouble with them nipping off all the buds down there. (Our 6 year-old trees are mostly under 5 feet tall still, although they have grown a lot in the last two years.)
