Windy Great Pumpkin Metric

Getting ready to saddle up at 8:30am

Mom and dad rode the Great Pumpkin Metric on Sunday. It was a 65 mile ride. The most mom had ever ridden was 57 miles on the Little Miami Trail last fall and 52 miles on an earlier Mt Vernon trip. It wouldn't have been a big deal, but the wind was terrible. It seemed to shift direction every time the mapped route did. They fought the wind for the last 40 miles. The scenery and temperature were excellent though.
The trip began at the 4H Center in Vanderburgh County and traveled various roads toward the Ohio River between Dogtown and the A.B. Brown power plant. The River Ridge Road section was very scenic.
They will do it again next year, but hopefully without that wind.
