Severe drought

According to the Climate Center, our area is experiencing a severe drought (duh!) and is bordering on an "extreme" drought. All we know is that our ground is parched and we have never seen it so dry, not even during the famous drought of '88. The lack of rain combined with the extremely hot conditions for the last four months has probably killed a lot of vegetation, even mature trees. Mature hickory trees will not be yellow this year; their leaves are all brown and ready to fall. Our fall garden completely flopped. We had about 2% germination on our seeds and the transplanted cole plants probably won't mature in time. We did manage to get about 15 gallons of green tomatoes to process, though.
