Bargain lilacs

Several years ago, dad bought up 20+ three-gallon lilac bushes at WalMart, right before they threw them into the dumpster. He paid $1 for each of the $25 plants because they had lost their leaves for the fall and weren't a hot item for WalMart customers.

Now, many years later, the entire yard smells of lilac during early May. This year was not a good blooming year for whatever reason, but the quantity made up for the lack of quality of blooms.
