Snow plows & chicken grit

It is great living away from town and sub-divisions, but there are some drawbacks also. While we're happy to see the snow plows come past after snow or ice storms, we don't like the mess caused when the "chip-n-seal" gravel gets thrown up into the yard (especially the new grass). Usually, it means that dad is out there raking gravel out of the grass in the summer. This week, he got smart though and got it up with a scoop shovel while most of it still sat on top of the snow/ice. He put it in the wheel barrow and dumped it in front of the chicken coop - where the chickens can pick it up for digestive health. That only took five minutes, where raking out of the grass in the summer usually takes an hour of very hard work.
