College students count and weigh the river fish
Dad was in Dayton, Ohio this week on business and rode 30 miles on the Great Miami Bike Trail - from Franklin to Dayton and back. At his 15-mile turnaround in Dayton, he saw a river fish survey being done, so he stopped and watched them analyze their catch for 15 minutes or so.
The biologist said the river was very healthy, so healthy in fact, that the catch included two Horny Headed River Chub. These fish require pretty clean water to survive and are somewhat rare in the Great Miami. Dad might not have ever gotten to see a Horny Headed River Chub if he hadn't stopped to gawk...
