Murder in the hen house

Nights have been bright and active around home with the full moon shining. For the first time in about three years, a predator of some type has gotten into the hen house overnight and killed one of the old Rhode Island Red hens. With our booming egg business and our family's affinity for eggs, this is serious business. Dad patched up the hole on the west side of the coop and then set the live trap up in the door. Hopefully, we'll catch the culprit. Given that the chicken was left in the middle of the pen without its head, the killer is probably a coon, possum, or perhaps even a hawk.

  2. Hi Randy
Never found out. We set the trap for a couple of weeks (which blocks the only entrance to the hen house) and didn't catch anything. Whatever it was decided it was too much work and was probably too big to fit into the trap.
Last time we had a problem, it was a possom.
Great seeing you this weekend, stay in touch!
