Dad spent the week in North Carolina on business and got away early enough last night to hike/climb to the top of Crowders Mountain, which is located only about 30 miles west of Charlotte. It took about 45 minutes to get to the top from the parking lot. From the very top, he could sit on a rock and look down on Charlotte and Plant Allen 30 miles to the east. Then, he could spin around on the rock and see about 30 miles to the west, clear to the mountains and the area around Chimney Rock (where Last of the Mohicans was filmed.)
