Dad had just mentioned that his bees were not prospering and probably would not make it through the winter since they are not building up enough comb and honey (and appear to be dying off.) Most beginning beekeepers fail on the first try, and he assumed he would be no different.
Later in the morning, he mowed past the now-baren peach tree and noticed this swarm of wild bees on the trunk. Thankful for the great timing of this find, he gathered some containers and captured them. After capturing them in three containers, he dumped them into the other end of his top bar hive. After 12 hours, they are still doing well and have finished off a pint of sugar water (which is provided to make sure they get a good start in their new home). Let's hope this batch works...
