100 miles

The trip meter shows 100 miles

Dad was in Cincinnati on business and his second day ended much earlier than expected. Since he had his bike and intended to ride at some point during the trip, he headed there at about 1pm. With a lunch of Skyline 4-way chili as fuel, he took off from Loveland on the Little Miami Trail and rode to the south end of the 78-mile trail at Miamiville. He turned around and rode back to Loveland, a trip totalling 27.5 miles.
He then rode north to Corwin, stopping long enough to participate in a conference call for work in a shelter house in Morrow. He turned around and rode south, back to the van and Loveland.
With 84 miles on the trip meter, he wanted to go ahead to 100 miles. But, the chili had worn off and his stomach screamed for something. He loaded the bike into the van, drove back to Eastgate and ate supper, then climbed back on the bike to finish the remaining 16 miles in the Eastgate Mall parking lot after all the stores had closed. It was his first century bike ride, and he says it will probably be his last - at least until his rear end and thighs recover.

A cell phone self-portrait in front of the Corwin Peddler; notice the wind-blown spikey hair :)

The I-71 Jeremiah Morrow Bridge is 239 feet above the trail!
