Dad ran a rusty wire through his foot Saturday afternoon when he was salvaging old fencing for tomato cages, so he hasn't been of much use for the past couple of days. He has even had to resort to crutches to keep the weight off his foot. Our friends Garry and Linday Russell are also unable to do much due to back surgery (Garry) and knee replacement (Linda), so dad has been mowing their yard.
Since he was not able to push the mower either, dad got Ab to volunteer her time today after work (yes, she is working now!) to do a good deed for someone else. It all worked as planned, but then Garry slipped her a five dollar bill and insisted that she keep it. Oh well. She meant to do a good (volunteer) deed...
