We went to the Wood Memorial girls' basketball regional at North Daviess yesterday. The girls lost to Northeast Dubois by ten or so points, so we came home early. On the way home, we had to stop for burgers at the White Steamer on West Main in Washington. It has been there since 1938 and Arnie's family used to eat there when he was little. Lyman Nossett (another Wood Memorial parent) did also, so he stopped to get a bag of burgers to take home when we were there. Not real healthy, but it's awfully good eating.
Cooking them in the front window, just like they did in the early 70s
An original menu that is still on the wall
Glad you had fun at regionals.
ReplyDeleteYou know the key to good hamburger flavor is to NEVER clean the grill. It looks like they put that new grill in somewhere around 1938 and they haven't cleaned it yet. -:))
