A haunted bridge

A "ghost" image of an SUV crossing Bulldog Bridge - fitting for its reputation

Bulldog Bridge - which is just below our house - is set to be replaced sometime in the future. The bridge has been the site of recreational target practice, teen parties, and even suicides over its long lifespan. Kelley and Arnie went out to photograph last night (on their way to eat dinner at Sullivan's Grocery) and noticed that the obligatory bulletin board had been erected on the ditch bank, so that means work is about to begin. This SUV came by so Arnie quickly set the shutter speed to a slow setting and shot. The "ghost" image is perfect for the bridge, since it is said to be haunted. Read more about that here.
Arnie walked down there to go deer hunting several years ago and saw an S-10 parked on the other side. He sneaked his way back down stream, but said he didn't see anything. When it got dark a couple hours later, the authorities were down there removing the body of someone that had hanged himself. The truck that Arnie had seen as he started his hunt belonged to the guy...
We will be sad to see it go, but we've heard that they are required to save the old bridge in some manner due to some historic ordinances. That's good - it has a place in the memories of most people that grew up in Princeton.
Following are a couple more pictures taken last night.
