Chickens scratching some feed in the garden at sunset
We keep thinking that it will get cold one of these days, but it doesn't. The temperature has been below 20 one time this winter and the forecast is for more warmer than average temperatures. Dad has plenty of firewood cut, split, and stacked to heat the house for a couple of winters, yet it would be nice if we don't have to use much of it. The bad thing about the warmer temperatures is that the ground hasn't been hard enough for the truck to get to most of the firewood gathering locations. Much of the wood cut so far will probably age in the woods for a year, which isn't all bad. When it's time to haul it, the pieces will weigh 30-40% less due to drying.
Locust firewood drying - it will probably be used in a couple of years
