To help clean-up, the bushes must be cut into small pieces
The invasive Amur Honeysuckle bushes have slowly been taking over much of our second-growth woods so we've declared war. Our goal is to have every sprig of it removed within three years. If we're to ever harvest good firewood from our land - and just as importantly, enjoy our property - the stuff has to go. It completely dominates the understory if left alone and it chokes out everything except mature trees. It makes passage through the woods all but impossible for everything larger than a rabbit.
Dad spent much of the past weekend cutting some of our thickest spots and painting the stumps to prevent re-growth. It already looks much better around here.
Before
After (imagine the brushpile being gone)
