Fat Skeet watches the arbor-building
The arbor project has been slow to finish, but nonetheless, it is getting there. First, the top 8 inches of soil was removed, then the hole was backfilled with 53 gravel and then sand. It was leveled and then the pavers were laid upon it. Actually, those things didn't just happen, dad did them :)
Once the pavers were down, he put sand on the bricks and mom swept it into the cracks and around the edges.
The pavers were originally part of the patio (that we replaced) at our old house on State Street in town. We brought them with us when we moved to the hill and stacked them way back behind the old red barn. That was 14 years ago. Dad went back there and dug out what he believed to be enough to do the patio. Amazingly, he picked up exactly the right number of pavers without calculating. There was not one brick left over. Everyone was impressed.
