Mother's Day (A lamb's quarters feast)

Grandma Johnson shows up after all

Everyone gave mom the day off yesterday to observe Mother's Day. Grandma Johnson was in the area (as opposed to being up in northern Illinois, where she lives now), and she dropped in for dinner also. We didn't expect her to make it, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Dad did all the cooking, serving pork chops grilled on the wood fire and creamed lamb's quarters. Lamb's quarters is a weed that grows in most gardens around here, but old-timers used to eat it as a green (and liked it). It was good enough that it will go into the favorites binder.
