One flew over the Patoka River

26 pounds, 10.5" beard, and curved 28mm spurs

Dad had to be in Plainfield for business on opening day of spring turkey season (yesterday), but he did manage to get a dandy bird in the evening after he came home. He got home about 5pm and took a nap before heading down to Bulldog Bridge at around 5:30. After about an hour of walking/calling down the river behind the house, he finally heard a gobble far across the river on the north side. It was out in the field on the back side of the woods.
He set up on the river bank and called loudly since it was very windy and the woods was heavily leafed-out. The bird came in immediately, flew across the river about 10 yards downstream from him, and then stuck his head up for an easy shot. Even though the bird was across the river, it was one of the easier hunts dad has had in 29 years of turkey hunting. He said Ben Rogers Lee couldn't have done a better job, even if he were alive :)
