In hindsight, a chilling photograph

Cooper watches Minnie get reprimanded

Minnie has taken to doing a lot of head-butting when we're in the pen with her. She intends it as fun, but she is so strong that if we're not expecting it, it could cause an injury. Mom now takes a club of small firewood to ward her off when she goes in to check the their water.
As this post is made - about a month after the picture was taken - we've just finished nursing Sadie (our pygmy goat) back to health. Cooper, the Schafers' dog, got her down one day when she had escaped the pen and was eating strawberry leaves. He tore off half of her tail and had put several puncture wounds in her neck and rear end. If Betsy hadn't gone outside and caught him in the act, he would have killed her. Betsy way-layed him and then called dad at work so he could come home and help.
It took about three weeks for her to recover well enough to go back out in the pen. We spent about $50 on antibiotics, a tetanus shot, and medicine for the wounds. We kept her in the open horse stall and by the time we let her out, she was ready to get some sunshine and exercise. She is once again romping around the pen. Cooper is not welcome on the property any more, and he knows it. He stays down on the other end of the orchard when he is in the neighborhood now.
The picture above shows him outside the pen plotting. The title idea comes from a recent Twitter war between President Obama's staff and Mitt Romney's staff. A passage in Obama's book told of him having eaten dog meat as a kid in Indonesia. A Romney aide tweeted about a picture of Obama and his current dog "in hindsight, a chilling photograph".
And, when this post is read 50 years from now, let it be said that we cannot believe that this country elected a president that once ate dog, either.
