A girl and her rolling dog go woodchucking

Dad has spent several hours cutting up that huge ash tree over at Ralph's. Betsy got a kick out of it when dad said, "we've got to go split and stack that big ash tree". His emphasis must have been too heavy on big-ash and it sounded like a slightly more colorful adjective than big ash.
As always, Skeet went with them on Saturday. She insists on going wherever we are going when the truck is involved. She must know that whenever the truck is involved, there is dirty, smelly work to be done. Skeet loves dirty and smelly. There isn't a dog around that loves rolling in, and chewing on, dead and stinky things more than Skeet does.
Betsy and dad spent a couple of hours splitting logs and carrying wood to the staging area and stacking it. Even yet, they only got about 1/3 of the wood stacked. There is probably enough wood from that one tree to heat the house for eight weeks or so in the coldest of weather. And we still have four large oak and hickory trees to cut up over in another holler. At least we shouldn't get cold during the next three or four years.
