Early syrup

The Heldt clan heads for the sugarbush

Yes, it's early, but the temperature is just right and the sap flowed this weekend. Between Saturday and Sunday, we made two or three gallons. We won't know for sure until it settles out and we do the final filtering and bottling.
Jason and Mary Heldt came over with their four kids and helped run some sap buckets and ate a little corn mush with syrup. Jeff and Kelly Rode came by also, while the usual motley crew of assistant brewmasters  (Stan Miles and Neighbor Bill) also came over to help. One can't help but get the feeling that we'll pay the price for such a nice weekend in mid-January.
