All turkeys, no deer

The view during lunch - PB&J and Grandpa Howes's 16-gauge

Dad, nephew Jeremy, niece Brittany, and her husband Trevor went to Curl's Cliffs for a day-long deer hunt on Saturday. They stopped at Deb's Truck Stop (Birdseye) and had biscuits and gravy. The stop made them a little late to arrive at the woods, but the good breakfast was worth it.
Dad took them to the cliff, where they split up and went to their appointed hunting spots. There weren't any deer moving, although all saw many squirrels. Dad had five longbeards close at mid-morning and then also got into another flock of toms that were scratching the woods up on top of the ridge.
Although the deer were scarce on this trip, it was a beautiful day and Brittany and Trevor got to see the cliffs for the first time.

The gun laid across some rocks down where the creek comes back up from its underground course

It was warmer than expected, so dad shed some clothes at the section where the creek is underground
