The rain barrels (awaiting pretty-fication)
Dad built the rain barrel stand earlier this spring and put the two barrels on it. That was on a Sunday afternoon, and it rained all day that day. We had three more barrels sitting around, so they were daisy-chained during the afternoon. All five barrels filled in no time, and that water met most of our needs throughout the summer. We didn't get much rain the rest of the summer, but what little we got usually filled the barrels that had been emptied. A quarter of an inch of rain fills two of the barrels.
The plan is to add the second story of barrels next year, so that the four barrels can then be hidden with lattice and the three barrels sitting around the base can be removed.
The faucet from the barrels is mounted on wood to eliminate loose connections
