Down to 8 lives

Pumpkin, with the netting still around her neck

For two days, Pumpkin missed feedings and was nowhere to be seen around the farm. Dad had just noticed that she was missing for the second day in a row - and had just told mom that we'd likely not see her again because she had never missed two days in a row when he walked down to the Chapmans' to say hi.
Tony Williams (Tuna) was there siting in his new gun and told dad that he had quite a story. Seems he was getting into their "shooting house" deerstand in the early morning dark when he heard a cat
meowing somewhere around the house. In the dark, he figured out that the cat was balancing on the ledge outside the window and was tangled in the camo netting. It wouldn't let him anywhere near, so he cut it loose and it fell 18 feet to the ground and disappeared into the darkness.
Dad asked him if it happened to be yellow and he said it was. Right then, they went out into the woods looking for her. Knowing that she'd head for the house, dad went that direction, calling as he went. A weak meow came out of a tangled mass of briars. Dad found her tangled up in there, still dragging about three feet of netting. She was one happy cat and ate about half a gallon of cat food when she got back to the barn.

Pumpkin couldn't get enough to eat after at least two days caught by the neck
