Uchi, Curtis Clark, and David Drew
Dad met several new friends at his training the past two weeks. Many were from foreign countries - David Drew and Vicki Bolem from England, Kristophe ? from Germany, and Uchi, Itsuo, and Kan from Japan. Other class participants were from Indiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Texas, and North Carolina.
Uchi, Itsuo, and Kan were very interesting though, as they had all three dealt with the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear emergency in Japan this year. They are executives for Hitachi Chemical and live within 40 kilometers of the nuclear plant. They had to shut down their nearest facility due to nuclear proximity. It will be down for one year. They are rushing to get a new facility up and running to prevent permanently losing market share.
Although a hard two weeks, dad is very glad to have met such interesting and good people from all over the world.
