With our busy schedule and maple sugarin', we've gotten out of the habit of counting chickens and inspecting the coop (we don't have to go in to get eggs and the chicken poo falls through the fencing to the ground below). Dad noticed a dead chicken the other day when he peeked in, and the next night there was another. Obviously, this was not due to natural causes, so he placed a live trap in the little coop opening. Next morning, the culprit was caught and mercifully released over at Ralph & Martha's more than two miles away. We'll see if he comes back because the trap will continue to be used nightly until we're sure there aren't additional chicken-killing possums around.
Wondering how this guy successfully ran the Boscoe gauntlet for several nights in a row...
