Grandpa Howes, Dave Sorensen, and Arnie went to Tennessee (near Crossville) on a wild boar hunt. The hunt was a big let-down except for the time spent together. They stayed at an old house - actually in the house with the hosts - ate plain down-home food - and hunted the side of a big mountain. It would have been a lot of fun, except the hunt was in September, before the mountain had been stocked with hogs. They hunted hard for a day and a half without seeing so much as one track, and that was even after a long soaking rain the day before.
On the last morning, the host obviously turned loose a couple of hogs and then brought in his dogs to chase them. As a businessman, he couldn't afford to have an investment turned loose since there were no fences to keep them from going to the next county. Arnie put his bow up and got out his camera while Dave and Grandpa Howes participated. It was sporting as far as dog-hunts go for sure, but Arnie didn't want to get one except for still-hunting. Both Dave and Grandpa were successful and the meat was very tasty.
