Kelley fixes pancakes on the upturned lid of the dutch oven.
When we lived at 331 East State Street in Princeton, the family had very little exposure to rural life. We did get away for a weekend camping trip at Temple Hills, a church-owned campground southeast of Arthur Junction in Pike County. It is a nice quiet place with swimming and fishing. At the time, we had a big wall tent that required about 30 minutes to erect. Abbey was a toddler and Betsy wasn't born yet. The trip's highlight happened when Abbey toddled into the women's restroom and broke the hot water pipe under the sink. Water sprayed everywhere and flooded the floor. Arnie had to make temporary repairs until Mr. Claridge (the caretaker) could fix it.
