The main sap line stretches across a wide creek
Dad had a business trip to New Albany yesterday, so he made sure to visit a sugar camp that his friend, Leo Oxley, had told him about. While neither owner - Mike & Leanne - were around, a nice friend of the family (Carla) pointed him to the key points of interest at LM Sugarbush. She also sent him home with a list of great-looking maple syrup recipes for mom to try this year.
They have miles of tubing throughout the woods and the sap flow is assisted/enhanced by a vacuum system. The weather was not suitable for good sap flow, yet the pump was still being effective and pulling sap toward the bulk tank. While dad makes just a few gallons per year, Mike and Leanne make hundreds of gallons and host a festival every year. It sounds like a big event and we are making plans to attend.

One heck of an evaporator
Big logs for firing the evaporator - notice the very large flue in the background
